Screw Fashion

I know its summer but it rain the other day so I have on leather and threw on all black. But first I want to say screw fashion not because of the weird weather in Los Angeles but because of several reasons:
1. The consumerism that drives my ego. I save up for a great pair of shoes and then two minutes later I am on to the next pair. That shoe instantly becomes last season, outdated, old, played. Kids nagging parents for the trends,  Teenagers spending bill money, Adults spending bill money. The never being satisfied with just the belt. Fashion is a constant race.
2. Trends that are so called must haves but never seem to fit. I really want a great high waisted pair of jeans without making my back end flat,  crop shirt without showing my stretch marks, or pointed heels that doesn't make my ankles look fat. On and on.
3. Everyone has one. F21, H&M, Zara, Brandy Melville, American Apparel, Steve Madden. If you shop there know everyone else has one too. Don't get me wrong you will be on trend but you will not stand out from the crowd. But you want to fit in, get in line, and come on Rihanna has a pair and its affordable so which one has the cheapest.
4. Wanting whats on the runway but no money. I see it on the runway and I want it but in the real world you cant get whats on the runway so you wait until its available and affordable on the mass market and then number 3 happens. (The reason above this one).
So today I vent to let everyone know I know the problems with fashion. I know celebs, who mostly do not know how to dress but they have sponsors, makeup artist, hair stylist, and clothing stylist helping ( I mean a full machine, including a great photographer and photoshop). The ridiculous prices, the its too young for you looks, the magazines and blogs pushing that same look over and over but in different colors. I know it all. SCREW FASHION!

But I still love it.

  1. First, let me start of by saying I love your style.. and this outfit is SO me.. well me at a whopping 5'0, but SO me still lol.

Secondly, I agree with you wholeheartedly. i've always been one to say screw fashion. i like to look at great outfits via blogs + magazines, but at the end of the day i'm seriously just a plain t, beat up jeans with Toms or some type of flat type girl. I go more for timeless than trend. Usually always works out. Less is more sometimes.

    Great post!

  2. I'm with you all the way on this one. I wear what I like and what I'm comfortable in. I must say I love your style. You and your little lady are beautiful and fabulous!!
